In this study we explored if experimentally applied drought and warming has driven genetic changes in populations of Mediterranean shrub species. Fewer individuals of these species can establish in the new climate. We asked is survival random, or are the survivors better adapted?

This research assessed patterns in the distribution, productivity and population genetics of four Cirsium species that occur in the UK.
Characterising genetic recovery during saltmarsh restoration
This project looked at how fast and how complete the recovery of diversity within species (genetic diversity) is when new saltmarsh habitats are created and where that genetic diversity comes from.
Phylogeography and molecular ecology of East African tropical forests
This project used molecular tools to understand the distribution of genetic diversity across habitat islands in a biodiversity hotspot. The data allow us to gain a better idea of the distribution of diversity in the region and thereby inform conservation priorities.
Investigating the impacts of environmental change on Taiwanese mountain plants
In this project, we focussed on how climate change and habitat fragmentation are likely to impact plant species occurring in the central mountain region of Taiwan.
